America's largest fashion staple- denim, is now taking a new silhouette. Known for their jeans, American Eagle Outfitters just released an exclusive denim hijab. With American Eagle recently in financial trouble not too long ago, they have sought out different sales tactics. Widening its' demographic by introducing this hijab, it had received lots of attention in the spotlight and all over social media. Within two weeks later the exclusive piece sold out. The face of the hijab was worn by Halima Aden, a muslim model who became the first hijabi to be signed to a major modeling casting company. She received major exposure when American Eagle campaigned their ad on Times Square. Muslim woman and girls are still a growing retail niche that is still in the shadows. In turn, the items sales success shows that Muslim woman are an under served market with significant spending potential that will only continue to grow.
