Textiles for this season are going to be all about embracing the creative process and imperfection, unfinished look and design. Missing color is what speaks to the customer in Spring and Summer 2018. Prints are influenced by art, expression and liberation. Other trends that are inspiring this mood are bold and organic shapes and lines in contrast to the romantic pastels and flowers of 1970’s. Details are not significant; the importance is in the progress and individuality of craftsmanship and artistic development.
Flowered
Romantic roses or poppies, eastern inspired cherry blossom and decorative florals with historic sentiment. All of these using the artistic, unfinished, pastel or bold 1970s look of this season.
Progress of creativity
The process of work is what counts this season. We will see unfinished looks that show uniqueness and individuality of an artist. Bold brushstrokes, dropped shadows, unfinished coloring, untidily painted backgrounds and rowdy quality.
Raw shapes
Hand drawn or blurred lines with repetition and movement. Digital lines are replaced with more natural and organic, vibrant, imperfect lines.
Back to 70s
Retro style of 1970’s is inspirational in many aspects, the most significant of them this season will be bold lines and a pop pastel palette. The favorites are baby blue and bubblegum pink.
