What a gem! The Mosaic Tile House, located in Venice Beach, CA resides in a seemingly typical southern California neighborhood. Typical, though, is not a word that anyone would use to describe this house. Creative, colorful, intense, loud, striking, quirky, and beautiful are all words that come to mind.
Let your eyes adjust and you will begin to see more than what appears at first glance. Artist couple Cheri Pann and Gonzalo Duran transformed their 1940's home into a complete piece of art. With a mixture of homemade ceramics, garage sale finds, and gifts, the house is completely covered from the inside out.
Take a tour of this inspiring home led by Cheri, a lively red head full of stories! If you are lucky enough to meet Gonzalo, he may even show you cool spots to take photos (yes, you can take Instagram photos here)! The tour is brief, where you will learn a bit about the couple's relationship, their passion for art, and how it all began in their bathroom. The rest of the time is yours to explore and wander around the property!
After you meander through the home, Cheri will lead you to what was the whole reason why they bought the house; to her studio. Let your eyes adjust again as the stark white room with tall ceilings may come as a shock. This is where the magic is created before it is applied to the home. Walk further back and you will find Gonzalo's studio where he has interactive art complete with romantic love notes, the guy is a true romantic.
