Every year The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising hosts a costume exhibit in their Museum, featuring some of the best costumes from the hottest films of the year prior. This 24th Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design featured more than 100 costumes representing 24 of the hottest films of 2015. These are not replicas, they are the real deal.
Oscar nominated and winning films such as Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Mad Max Furry Road, The Revenant, Cinderella, Mission Impossible, The Hateful Eight, and many more were on display.
Some of the costumes had more detail than ever could be portrayed on the screen. The exhibit represents Hollywood’s top costume designers whose duty it is to “Craft ensembles that look perfect in long shots and enlarged on 30 foot wide film screens”. “They must ensure that every garment is appropriate to the stylized setting and era established by the director”.
This free FIDM Exhibit is a truly unique experience that is only available at the beautiful Los Angeles campus. If you are going to be in the area prior to April 30th, we highly suggest adding it to your agenda.
