Our January Color Blast featured several ways to bring more color into your life in 2016. We chose to focus on the home for one segment and came up with 5 easy ways to add color to your home! These are simple things you can do over a weekend that will make a lasting impression throughout the year.
1. Paint the door.
It could be your front door, patio door, or even your bedroom door! This is such a simple, hassle free thing that anyone can do! Simply choose your favorite shade of paint (we love this electric purple), remove the door from the hinges, and paint away (okay you may need to do some sanding and/or priming)! Add some cool hardware for an extra high end touch!
2. Add a colorful accent mirror.
Again, super simple, and has the potential to be a low cost project! Hunt around at your local swap-meets, second hand stores, and antique shops for unique mirrors like the one above, choose a color that reflects how you want to feel when you look in the mirror every day! A bright color like yellow can have subconscious positive effects of your mood!
3. Paint a wall.
Pick a wall in your favorite room, one that you spend a lot of time in, and paint it! Just like the mirror it can have positive effects on your mood. Get creative and take it a step further, add a playful texture like the one above to really wow your guests.
4. Roll out a bold rug.
Sometimes printed rugs can be a bit intimidating, but it is one of the easiest ways to make a big design impact! The next step would be to choose one of the colors found in the rug and use it as an accent color throughout the room with pillows, vases, etc.
5. Update an old piece of furniture.
Dreaming of an updated bedroom set, but don't have the cash? Why not just update what you have! A simple coat of paint and some new hardware can make all the difference, without the cost!
